is reputed as one of the most amazing architectural marvels in India. The main
entrance is through the triple arched gate, the 'Tripolia' with eight marble
porticos. The majestic
palace of Rajasthan is a conglomeration of
courtyards, pavilions, terraces, corridors, rooms and hanging gardens. The
museum in the palace displays ancient paintings and other articulates that date
back to the time of yore.
Sahelion-ki-BariOn the shores of Fateh sagar lake
was built a garden for the 48 young girls waiting to be sent to the royal house
as part of Dowry. This small ornamental garden was a popular relaxing spot where
royal ladies came for a stroll and hence the name. The garden has many fountains
in its four delightful pools, chiseled kiosks and marble
elephants.
Pratap MemorialLocated on top of the Moti Magri or
pearl hill, the magnificent Pratap Memorial overlooks the city. The bronze
statue of Maharana Pratap siting a top his celebrated horse Chetak is the major
attraction of the place.
Fateh SagarA
beautiful
lake in Udaipur, overlooked by a number of hills on the three
sides and the Pratap Memorial on the north was built by Maharana Fateh Singh. In
the middle of the lake is Nehru Park-a lovely garden island with a boat shaped
café accessible by an enjoyable boat ride. The larger shape of lake resembles
the map of India.
